Privacy policy
What Awning collects when you book, sign in or list a business, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed.
Who we are
Awning (awning.help) is a catalogue where people book local services, classes and rentals, on the website or through an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude. Questions about your data: support@awning.help.
What we collect
When you book
Your name and at least one way to reach you (email, phone or Telegram), the time and service you chose, and anything you add yourself: a note, answers the business asks for, an address for a delivery. You can book without an account.
When you sign in
The address you sign in with, confirmed by a one-time code, or your Telegram or Google account if you choose those. If you use a passkey (Face ID, Touch ID or a security key), we store only its public key; your fingerprint or face never leaves your device. We keep which assistants and apps you allowed to act for you, so you can sign them out.
When you list a business
What you tell us about it: name, description, address, services and prices, opening hours, staff names, photos and contact details, and the history of your application.
When you leave an application on the website
The business name, your name and your email address.
When you visit
We count page views on our own server: the day, the page, the website you came from (only its name) and whether the visit came from a person, an assistant or a search engine. For people in a browser we also run Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool hosted by us, which does not use cookies. Our servers keep short technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep the service working and safe; they are rotated automatically and kept for a few days.
Cookies
Only the ones needed for the service: a cookie that keeps you signed in on this website, and short-lived cookies used during sign-in. No advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it
To make and manage bookings, to let businesses run their page and confirm your requests, to send you codes and booking messages, to review businesses before they go live, to keep the service secure, and to understand in aggregate how the site is used.
Who else sees it
- The business you book with sees your booking and the contact details you gave, so it can serve you.
- The Awning team sees business applications and, when needed to help or to prevent abuse, bookings and accounts.
- Services we use to run Awning: our hosting provider (servers in Germany), Resend to deliver email, Telegram if you connect it, Google if you sign in with Google, and Cloudflare for our domain name. They process data only to provide their service to us.
- Your AI assistant. If you use Awning from ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant, that provider handles your conversation under its own terms; Awning receives only what the assistant sends to book or look things up for you.
We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Sign-in codes expire within minutes and unconfirmed holds within ten minutes. Bookings and business information are kept while the account or business is active and for as long as needed to settle disputes or meet legal duties. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
Your choices
You can see and change your profile through your assistant or by writing to us, sign out of every device at once, disconnect any assistant, and ask us for a copy of your data or for its deletion. Write to support@awning.help. Awning is not meant for children under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, where appropriate, by email.
